My work broadly concentrates on the chemical transformation and utilization of biomass resources. I have spearheaded a few interdisciplinary initiatives that combine expertise in the fields of polymer synthesis and materials chemistry. I am interested in the atom-efficient, ecofriendly, highly efficient chemical transformations of a variety of biomass into sustainable intermediates, polymer auxiliaries, bioplastics, elastomers and advanced bio-based materials. My current research mainly includes the following areas: Solvent- and catalyst-free synthesis of plasticizer, flame retardant, heat stabilizer and polyol from biomass resources Flame retardant polymer and their composites materials including polyvinyl chloride(PVC) materials, phenolic foam and polyurethane foam Biomass-based internally plasticized PVC materials and self-repairing elastomer and self-repairing polyurethane
